Is it better to sleep in Riomaggiore or La Spezia?

La Spezia is cheaper and you train in every morning. In Riomaggiore you are already in the park: at night you go home, not back to the station. From 3–4 nights, a village base is worth the rate.

Are you in the historic centre?

We are at Via De Gasperi 106, in the upper part, reachable by car. The centre and harbour are downhill on foot. We do not promise “two minutes from the sea”: we promise an honest access and a parking space if you book it.

Can I book one night only?

No: minimum 2 nights, maximum 29. You can request from 1 to 365 days before arrival.

Where to stay in Riomaggiore

The real choice is not “the prettiest village”. It is where the bags go, whether you need the car, and whether you want a kitchen after the trails.

Upper village or harbour

Riomaggiore is vertical. Down by the harbour and Via Colombo you get the postcard: boats, ice cream, the station a few minutes away. Hotels and many rentals there are easy on foot and awkward by car: the centre is a limited-traffic zone and bags go up steps.

Higher up, on Via De Gasperi, you arrive by car, drop the bags at the door and walk down when you want. Mythos and Helios sit here: not “outside the village”, above it. You climb back in the evening; you walk by day. With children, shopping or a dog, that difference matters more than a café on the square.

Hotel or apartment

A hotel solves breakfast and a front desk. An apartment solves time and food. After a trail you want a shower and a plate of your own, not a 19:30 sitting in a packed dining room. Mythos and Helios have kitchens: shop in La Spezia or in the village and come back when you like.

If you arrive by car

Staying in Riomaggiore with a car only works with a certain space. Rio Park, up the hill, is about €35 a day and cannot be reserved: by 11:00 in July and August it is often full. Our reserved space is €25 a day, requested with the apartment.

Without a space, leave the car at La Spezia Centrale and take the regional train (8–10 minutes). Details are on the parking guide.

Mythos or Helios

Mythos is the attic: about 90 m², terrace, sea view, for a couple or four people who want space. Helios is the more compact apartment, same location, same parking on request, same house rules.

Both are self-contained, with Wi-Fi, pets welcome if you say so, check-in 14:00–19:00 and check-out at 10:00. They are not two hotels: they are two homes. Choose on the apartments page and ask for dates.

Who this area suits

Anyone arriving by car who does not want to circle Rio Park.
Couples or families of up to four who want to cook.
Anyone bringing a dog and wanting that said before reception.
Anyone using Riomaggiore as a base and reaching the other villages by train.
