A day visit: choose what you want to see
With only a few hours, focus on the centre and marina, leaving room for an unhurried break. If you add a longer walk or an activity on the water, reduce the number of other stops. Visiting every village in one day means spending a substantial part of your time moving between places: decide whether you would rather see more or stay longer in each.
Two nights: a short break centred on the village
On the first day you can arrive, settle in and take an evening walk. The second is your full day: spend the morning in Riomaggiore, then choose a visit to Manarola or a quiet afternoon. On day three, allow for check-out and your journey home. This is an idea for a short break, without trying to fit everything into it.
Three nights: two days for the Cinque Terre
With two full days you can split your plans. One option is Riomaggiore and Manarola on the first, then Vernazza and Monterosso on the second, with time for breaks. If you want to add a hike, visit fewer villages that day. Treat this as a starting point to adapt to transport times, weather and the way you enjoy travelling.
Four nights or more: time for Corniglia and walks
A third full day lets you add Corniglia, spend longer on a trail or return to the village you enjoyed most. Every morning does not need a packed itinerary: alternate outings with time on your terrace. A few more days also give you flexibility to change plans instead of concentrating everything into one busy day.
Trains and trails: plan each day
Check connections for your travel dates and consult the National Park for the opening status and difficulty of your chosen trails. Do not assume every walking route between villages is accessible. Allow time for breaks and bring suitable equipment for a day of walking; with children, choose the route around their needs.
Choose your nights around arrival and departure
At Estate Riomaggiore, check-in is 14:00–19:00 and check-out is by 10:00. Two nights usually leave one full day between arrival and departure; three nights leave two.
